Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, the Associate Director for Off-Campus and Commuter Experience will lead Student Affairs in enhancing the university experience for students living off-campus or commuting. This position oversees programs and services that support the unique needs of the off-campus and commuter student populations, fostering wellbeing, engagement, and a sense of belonging. The Associate Director will collaborate with campus and community partners to design and develop initiatives that promote student success, citizenship, personal growth, and involvement for off-campus and commuter students. This includes but is not limited to: managing programs, resources, working with student organizations, and advocating for practices that address the challenges off-campus and commuter students face. In this role, the Associate Director will also be responsible for coordinating communication strategies to ensure that off-campus and commuter students are well-informed about campus events, resources, and opportunities. The position requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as the Associate Director will supervise a team of student workers, manage budgets, and assess program effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse student populations, community leaders, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that enhances the overall student experience at the university. Essential Functions
* Manage off-campus and commuter student programming, oversee projects and business operations that impact the department, division, university, and broader community. * Develop, approve, and implement policies and procedures to improve internal operations and external partnerships. * Coordinate programs that affect external relations and collaborate with administrative and academic units. * Develop, monitor, and approve a budget; manage expenditures. * Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations while ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations. * Resolve complex issues with students, non-student off-campus residents, neighborhood leaders, and community partners; represent the university internally and externally. * Provide leadership, supervision, and development for student employees; manage student hiring, training, and evaluations. * Serve on committees and represent the interests of off-campus and commuter students at various internal and external meetings. * Collaborate with university departments, students, community leaders, and external agencies to enhance the off-campus living and learning experience with a focus on developing students as educated and engaged citizens. * Lead initiatives to strengthen the student experience for commuter students. Address the needs and concerns of off-campus and commuter students through needs assessments and advocacy. * Design and implement co-curricular programming with clear learning outcomes for commuter and off-campus students. * Manage commuter services, events, and the Community Action Team ambassador program. * Support student success in both on-campus and off-campus environments. * Organize and coordinate events, including occasional weekend and evening activities. * Develop relationships to foster wellbeing, belonging, and engagement between and among commuter and off-campus students. * Maintain off-campus and commuter-friendly spaces and coordinate with transportation and parking services internal and external to the university, including Metro. * Conduct assessments, collect data, and report on student outcomes. * Build partnerships with campus and off-campus organizations and stakeholders. * Perform related duties as needed by the department and division.
