Position Summary

Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring an Engineering Technician, Field II to join our dynamic Utilities IN Field Services team at our Atlanta, GA office. This position reports to the Engineer Team Leader and is primarily responsible for collecting and compiling field data.



Responsibilities

Essential Functions

As an Engineering Technician, Field II at Woolpert, you will:

    Perform field testing/data collection for sewer systems, water systems, stormwater systems and natural waterways to include manhole investigations, smoke tests, dye tests, flow monitoring, fire flow tests, loss of head tests, pressure tests, water quality monitoring, and stage monitoring, and rainfall monitoring.
  • Record field data in electronic data collector or converts field notes, records, and sketches into electronic format to describe and certify work performed.
  • Take digital photographs to document field conditions.
  • Maintain field equipment and company vehicle and reports repair needs as necessary.
  • Be responsible for following project quality control and quality assurance processes.
  • Develop and documents standard practices and coaches and mentors other team members in skill development areas.
  • Answer questions from office engineering personnel about data collected in the field and collection methods.
  • Collect samples and send to laboratory for testing.
  • Be responsible for setting up software package used for data collection for each project.
  • Follow Woolpert safety procedures at all times.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must be able to read, write and interpret reports, business correspondence and procedural documentation.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and apply to practical situations.
  • Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have understanding of GIS principles. Experience with GIS software is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel overnight occasionally and work in different locations.
  • Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record, as required by our insurance company.
  • Must have an AA/AS or two (2) years related experience.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and move more than 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently travel overnight and work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Must be able to frequently reach with hands and arms and climb.
  • Must have vision abilities of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Infographic/Mapping Designer, [Dayton, Ohio, + others]

Position Summary

Seeking a new career challenge? Then Woolpert is seeking you! Woolpert is hiring an infographic/mapping designer to join our dynamic communications and creative team at a Woolpert office near you. This graphic design position reports to the director of communications and is responsible for the design and production of infographics and educational maps for internal communications, client deliverables, and corporate marketing materials. Qualified candidates will be visual storytellers, well versed in translating complex concepts and varied datasets into clear, eye-catching, and communicative graphics. Priority will be given to candidates with a proven track record of quick-turnaround graphic development, mapping, and/or grant development.

Essential Functions

As an infographic/mapping designer at Woolpert, you will:

  • Collaborate with various internal subject matter experts and external clients to identify infographic needs, develop concepts, and refine designs.
  • Identify, address, and resolve any project issues impacting project goals, objectives, and/or client satisfaction.
  • Work with team members to drive graphic design workload, using plans, schedules, and estimates as needed.
  • Negotiate scope of work and pricing as necessary to produce client work.
  • Align all design materials with the firm's style brand standards and ADA 508 compliance standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and/or primary point of contact for a specific technical skill or project type.
  • As needed, support other design needs with skills such as document layout, campaign ideation, peer review, PowerPoint formatting, webpage development, video production, etc.
  • Coordinate with other staff on special projects and firmwide and department-related initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education/Experience: BA/BS in graphic design, journalism, marketing, GIS, or a related field and four years related experience, or eight years related experience.
  • Software: Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft 365. Experience with Esri ArcGIS is recommended but not required.
  • Travel: Rare, but up to 10% for client projects.
  • Overtime: Occasional and minimal.

  • Strong organizational skills; keen attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through; and a sense of urgency.
  • Above-average verbal and written communication skills.
