*THIS IS A FULL TIME POSITION LOCATED IN PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY MARYLAND.

Job development Coordinator Community Services Division Melwood's mission is to create jobs and opportunity for people with disabilities so they can have a good quality of life. Introduction The Job Development coordinator markets and develops community employment opportunities for individuals in the Employee Support Services program with a force on the DORS JDPR initiative. The Job Development Coordinator will partner with business to create employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities based on their desires, employment goals and geographic location.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and coordinate employment and career opportunity I community-based businesses that meet the interest, skills level an support needs of the individuals served. Develop an employment and contact portfolio (to includes pertinent information) of employers and shares with the Employee Support Services staff.

2. Conduct analysis of job placement and retention services; ensuring benchmarks are beings met. Performance Informational Interview with potential employers and shares that information with job development team.

3. Ensure that the individual needs of each person served are being met and the job matches are designed to be successful with appropriate levels of support and supervision. Utilize customized employment techniques to create job opportunities for people with significant disabilities.

4. Partners with Workforce & Business Development Specialist in job and career planning process with individuals served, work with each individual's team on the screening and recommendation process for job placement.

5. Develop a positive working relationship with Melwood's Contract Services, making them a partner in job placement and retention activities. Work with Melwood Contract Service staff to have the Contract Division be a viable employment option for people of all abilities.

6. Complete progress notes, daily logs, timesheets, individual's planning activities and other documentation thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner.

7. Explain the benefits of Employee Support Services to employers, including addressing employer's special needs thereby customizing employment for the individual and matches job skills with applicant qualifications.

8. Represent Melwood and advocates its interests in the community and develops a network of community resources for Employee Support Services.

9. Achieve placement goals developed in cooperation with the Assistant Director, Employee Support Services.

10. Ensure individuals fundamental rights (COMAR 10.22.04) and satisfactory conclusion incident reports in a timely manner.

11. Act as a facilitator at team meeting as needed; arranges interim team meetings as indicated.

12. Adhere to State of Maryland DDA, CARF, DORS and Melwood policies and procedures.

13. Actively participant in management team, interdisciplinary and staff meetings.

14. Adhere to and further the mission of Melwood by creating a supportive environment for participants and staff.

15. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

The Assistant Director; Employee Support Services supervises the Job Development coordinator.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to sit 75% of the time; and stand/walk 25% of the time; must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull 50 pounds, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach; must be able to speak and hear. Must have good vision, as driving is required. HS diploma and two to three years' experience in workforce development and job development required. BA/BS in vocational rehabilitation, social work or related field strongly preferred. Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills, have knowledge of the principles of "self-determination" and the individual planning process including job development and retention, vocational counseling and behavior support. Must have past experience in developing employment forced programs for people with disabilities. Must have reliable transportation and able to travel to and from sites as necessary for work. Proficiency in Mircosoft Office software applications. Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record. Must be able to successfully pass a DOT physical.
