General Information:

JMU's Facilities Management currently has an open position for an Emergency Lighting Technician Assistant. This position is responsible for assisting the emergency lighting technician with the maintenance of emergency lighting systems and emergency power systems throughout the campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Performing of monthly emergency lighting checks per NFPA code
* Assisting in performing routine maintenance and repair on various types of emergency such as power generators, automatic transfer switches and generator cooling systems as needed to support building emergency circuits
* Replacing of obsolete or failed automatic transfer switches and generators to include running new conduits and wire
* Generating, collecting and maintaining of accurate records

Qualifications:

* Verifiable electrical experience and/or training
* Willingness to learn new equipment and systems
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team
* Must be 19 years of age and have held a valid driver's license for a minimum of 24 months
* Experience with basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
* Strong verbal and written communications skills
* Ability to learn NFPA code
*Availability for required rotating on call responsibilities and during periods of authorized campus closings
