Job Summary

The responsibilities of the Research Data Anlyst 3 will include developing data collection instruments, collecting and organizing quantitative and qualitative data, training project staff to collect quantitative and qualitative data, and data management in Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) or another similar program. The analyst will work with biostatisticians to execute data analyses.
Current Major Projects

  1. Supporting, Mobilizing, and Accelerating Research for Tuberculosis Elimination (SMART4TB) Technical Areas 3 (Operations and Implementation Research) and 7 (Policy) Consortium Studies - This USAID-funded project provides technical support related to implementation science methods and operational research to colleagues leading or supporting other technical areas in the consortium across the TB care pathway, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, policy formulation and dissemination, and capacity building. The consortium includes project sites in more than 10 high TB burden countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Skills of interest include international field site management, data management and analysis, implementation science methods and approaches, technical consultation, and policy formulation and dissemination.
  2. Implementation Science Accelerator- UCSF IGHS. In support of a partnership with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) - UCSF IGHS provides technical consultation related to dissemination and implementation science for various PAHO projects across a range of health priority areas, including infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and immunization programs. Skills of interest include data management and analysis, implementation science methods and approaches, technical consultation, and policy formulation and dissemination.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $90k-$100k(Annual Rate).

UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences (IGHS) is dedicated to improving health and reducing the burden of disease in the world's most vulnerable populations. It integrates UCSF expertise in all of the health, social, and biological sciences, and focuses that expertise on pressing issues in global health. CENTER FOR TUBERCULOSIS
The UCSF Center for Tuberculosis, housed under UCSF's Institute for Global Health Sciences, hosts 45+ affiliated and multidisciplinary faculty across the University and is the operational hub of the NIH-funded UCSF-UC Berkeley Tuberculosis Research Advancement Center (UC TRAC) and the UCSF award under the USAID-funded SMART4TB Consortium. Through the Center for Tuberculosis affiliation, faculty investigators enjoy a co-operative and creative academic environment with collegial, administrative, and logistical support, providing a singular and unified scientific home for the TB research enterprise at UCSF. Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in epidemiology, public health, or related area or equivalent experience/training
  • Human Subjects research training or ability to obtain in the first year of employment
  • 3+ years directly relevant work experience
  • Thorough knowledge of research function
  • Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis and systems programming
  • Thorough skills in analysis and consultation
  • Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbal and in writing
  • Knowledge of several statistical programs (for example STATA or R or MS Excel) as well as data management program, is required to ensure the accuracy of study data, produce relevant datasets for analysis, conduct data analysis, and prepare data for publication/presentation

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, implementation science, or related area or
  • equivalent experience/training
  • Experience working on international collaborations including international field experience
  • Knowledge of implementation science methods and approaches, including frameworks
  • Experience working on research or projects applying implementation science methods
  • Proficiency and experience with qualitative data (design and analysis)
  • Skills in project management
  • Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations
