Under the direction of the Manager, NonInvasive Diagnostic; and Campus Lead, the technician is required to perform quality diagnostic echocardiographic procedures and other assigned procedure. Acts as a clinical resource person for echocardiography

Responsibilities

Technical/Administrative/Clinical:

  • Demonstrated competence in recognizing and responding to patients physical, mental, emotional and developmental needs should be evaluated in relation to the patient populations served as appropriate for each responsibility.
  • Acts as a clinical resource person and participates with the evaluation of new equipment and in evaluating new staff.
  • Maintains staff schedules and patient schedules that are subject to Lead approval.
  • Collects and reviews data related to the physiological/psychological status of the patient.
  • Administers diagnostic quality echocardiography procedures.
    • Recognizes abnormalities and correlate information obtained with other pertinent data.
    • Obtains pertinent clinical information from the patient, referring physician, and patient's record including cardiac-related physical findings and pertinent laboratory data.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform the following diagnostic procedures on the adult, pediatric, neonatal and fetal patients.
    • Two-dimensional and M-mode echocardiography
    • Doppler and color doppler echocardiography
    • Stress echocardiography
    • Saline contrast; LV opacification echocardiography
    • Transesophageal echocardiography
    • Dobutamine echocardiography
  • Demonstrates ability to perform departmental tasks consistent with Cardiopulmonary Technician II or Technician III.
  • Communicates and records data.
  • Accepts assignment to any campus on a temporary basis as hospital needs require.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to maintain the efficient functioning of the department and any additional related duties as directed by the manager or lead.

Education:

Associates Degree

Licences/Certifications:

Registered Diagnostic Cardiact Sonographer, or obtain Registry Eligible Sonographer within two years of start date.

CPR required upon hire.

Preferred

Experience:

2 Years experience in Echocardiography Sonography
