Medical Director, Director of Pregnancy and Abortion Services - St. Paul, MN

Pay: $176,545 annually (experience will be compensated)

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Shift times: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Location: Vandalia Health Center - 671 Vandalia St. Saint Paul, MN 55114

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Medical degree
  • Board certification or eligibility in OB/GYN
  • License to practice in the states of MN, ND, SD, IA and/or NE
  • Competency in abortion procedures up to 23 weeks (preferred)
  • Competency in basic OB ultrasound


Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:



  • Interpret, maintain and evaluate performance standards of medical practice throughout the organization and develop medical protocol as necessary.


  • Provide medical consultation to clinicians regarding the clinical management of specific patients, especially as related to pregnancy care, abortion, and ultrasound services


  • Advise staff and participate when necessary in the development of contract relationships with other health care delivery systems


  • Participates in the delivery of PPNCS clinical services


  • Promote teamwork, interdepartmental respect and trust through fostering cooperation and effectively handling personal conflicts and disagreements.


  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.


  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.


  • Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.


  • Promote and participate in ongoing clinical process improvement.


  • Stay informed of clinical changes, make recommendations for improvement, and assist with the implementation of clinical initiatives.
  • Collaborate with and provide coverage as needed at health centers in assigned neighborhoods.



Program Direction and Development



  • Participate in the organization, implementation and ongoing evaluation of organization programs.


  • Serves as Program Director for abortion services


  • Develop, design, and implement pre- and post-natal care services and serve as program director of these services


  • Develop and update affiliate protocols in accordance with the PPFA Medical Standards and Guidelines for above service lines


  • Oversee the training/education/supervision/proctoring and ongoing monitoring of health center staff for pregnancy and abortion services


  • Provide ongoing availability of consultation when needed.


  • Grant clinical privileges relevant to the service.


  • Participate in Risk and Quality Management activities as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Director of Quality and Clinical Development.


  • Assist in coordination of resident medical education and training.



Administrative Responsibilities



  • Develop relationships within the medical community to extend the reach of PPNCS


  • Determine physician needs; recruit, train and supervise clinic physicians & clinicians


  • Participate in training and professional education of Advanced Practice Clinicians and other staff


  • Review audits related to the performance of abortion, ultrasound, and sedation services


  • Provide annual feedback to clinicians performing procedural abortion & pregnancy services


  • Meet with Health Servicers Operations team on a periodic basis to help with implementation of operational changes related to abortion and pregnancy services



Public Relations and Advocacy



  • Represent PPNCS and its programs within the community


  • Collaboratively, with the CEO and VP, Marketing/Public Affairs, confer with the news media about medical issues relative to the organization and to health care


  • Prepare and deliver presentations to civic, educational and other interested community groups on matters related to health care and to PPNCS.



Research



  • Participate in research program on an as-needed basis



Immunization Requirements:



  • Hepatitis B vaccination records
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccination records or proof of immunization
  • Tuberculosis PPD Skin Test that is no older than 12 months
