Description

The Department of Computer Science of the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions. Outstanding candidates in all areas of Computer Science will be considered with particular attention given to candidates working in Computer Systems (particularly security, architecture, and databases), Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and its applications, particularly Scientific Machine Learning, and Quantum Computing.

Applicants whose research programs broadly align with foundational and generative AI are especially encouraged to apply, as multiple positions in these areas may be available through UT Austin's Cluster Hiring Program in AI and Data Analytics (AI DA). Candidates who are particularly well suited to the AI DA cluster hiring program will be given the option to be considered for this opportunity and may be asked to submit additional materials to the cluster hiring committee. All positions are subject to the availability of funding.

The department is ranked among the top computer science departments in the country. It has 50 tenured and tenure-track faculty members across all areas of computer science. Many of these faculty participate in interdisciplinary programs and centers in the University, including among others Texas Robotics, the Machine Learning Laboratory, the Institute on Foundations of Machine Learning (an NSF AI Institute), the Center for Generative AI, the Good Systems Grand Challenge on Ethical AI, the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), and the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Science.

Qualifications

All tenure-track positions require a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in computer science or a related area at the time of employment. Successful candidates are expected to pursue an active research program, to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses, and to supervise graduate students in research.
