Position Overview
The Accounting Controller will oversee and manage the financial operations of our organization. This position is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, technical accounting expertise, and strategic financial insight to support decision-making and business growth.

This position is based in Atlanta, Georgia (Midtown) and reports directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
* Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
* Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
* Develop and maintain internal financial reports for management.
* Manage business license registrations across multiple states.
* Oversee annual benefits package renewals and related obligations.
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Lead the budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to align financial objectives.
* Monitor and report financial variances between actual results and budget projections.
* Provide financial forecasting and scenario analysis to support strategic planning.
* Oversee the preparation and issuance of 1099 forms for vendors.

Internal Controls & Compliance
* Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and accounting standards.
* Oversee audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting (e.g., IRS, state agencies).
* Implement and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
* Procure, manage, and ensure compliance with 401(k) partners, insurance providers (STD, LTD, Workers' Comp), and other benefit programs.
* Oversee the annual financial review process with accountants.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
* Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial investments.
* Optimize financial processes to improve working capital management.
Team Leadership & Development
* Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional growth and development.
* Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency within the accounting team.
* Work cross-functionally with other departments to improve financial transparency and processes.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
* 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
* Experience in the Facility Management and Real Estate Services industry preferred.
Technical Proficiency
* Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, Nexus, MRI, etc.).
* Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze complex financial data.

Leadership & Problem-Solving
* Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
* Strong leadership abilities with experience managing teams.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in the Facility Management and Real Estate Services industry.
* Background in financial risk management and process improvement.
* Experience with ERP implementations or system upgrades.
