Title 1 Aide/Assistant


An ESS Title 1 Aide assists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. The Title 1 Aide's job responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students.


JOB SUMMARY:

The following list includes the basic responsibilities of aides involved in the Title I programs.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES





  • Work closely with the school reading specialists and classroom teachers to plan and provide the Title I Supplemental Reading and/or Mathematics Support Program.
  • Provide supplemental reading and/or mathematics support to students in grades 1-5.
  • Provide supplemental reading and/or mathematics support using a push-in and pull-out model.
  • Allocate supplemental reading support services equitably. All grade level Title I students should receive the same quantity of time on a daily (30 minutes daily) or weekly basis (150 minutes weekly).
  • Allocate supplemental mathematics support services equitably. All grade level Title I students should receive the same quantity of time on a daily (30 minutes daily) or weekly basis (150 minutes weekly).
  • Maintain a current and accurate roster of Title I students by grade level.
  • Reading Instructional Assistants will develop and maintain lesson plans for each grade level.
  • Mathematics Instructional Assistants - Anecdotal Records for units and concepts addressed daily.
  • Develop and maintain a log or daily schedule of the time spent in each class or with each group.
  • Maintain student records, parent permission forms, criteria for placement, assessment data, and Title I progress reports. These forms are all required documents that must be kept in the Title I students' files.
  • Complete the annual local assessment data report with assistance from the school reading specialists.
  • Complete purchase orders for Title I supplies with the school reading specialists.
  • Attend the monthly Title I meetings and parent workshops.




POSITION REQUIREMENTS:



  • Qualifications: Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate


Physical Demands:



  • Ability to reach above/below the waist
  • Ability to move throughout district buildings
  • Ability to lift and carry updated materials - up to 15 pounds
