The Registered Nurse (RN) team lead is responsible for shift supervising the nurses while providing patient care and ensuring patient health through the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to staff, patients, friends, and families. This position reports to the RN supervisor and works collaboratively to meet and improve organizational and program goals.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Double check Medications pulled in the am by the techs
  • Create appropriate nursing assignment based on patient acuity
  • Forward OCCCPA team any patients identified by the pharm techs that have no auth in place (call and reschedule patients who will not have auth in place in time for tx)
  • Set up schedule for the next day
  • Check E kit daily, restock as necessary
  • Ativan log BID
  • Check hazardous waste room and document weekly in Veolia book
  • Help with phone calls and task queues for all clinics
  • Be available to provide assistance to nurses as needed
  • Trouble shoot various issues that during the day
  • Ensure all staff takes a 30 mins lunch break, provide coverage as needed
  • Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols
  • Assist with getting orders signed by MD
  • Order or ensure infusion room supplies are ordered bi-weekly
  • Work with and train student nurses
  • Scan the superbills from the previous day
  • Scan treatments held to pharmacist at end of day
  • Ensure nurses are calling and documenting the no shows assigned to them for the day
  • Provide infusion room numbers breakdown for huddle each day
  • Provides support in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the staff's diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights
  • Helps with phone calls and task queues for all clinics
  • Floats to other clinics to support staffing and clinic needs
  • Other duties as assigned



Maintains current competency in nursing specialty by attending educational workshops reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Required Qualifications:



  • High School or diploma or equivalent
  • Active unrestricted RN license in the State of Nevada
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification within 6 months of hire
  • Experience hanging chemo, pre-meds and IV treatments
  • Expert in Vascular Access, patient assessment, chemo regimens and understanding of safe patient parameters for receipt of treatment
  • Proven solid written/verbal communication skills
  • Proven demonstrates solid clinical and people skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • OCN certification
  • BLS certification
  • 2+ years of Oncology experience



Working Conditions:



  • No restrictions on standing, lifting 25#, walking, pushing, pulling in a patient care setting or perform these tasks with reasonable accommodation


Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $33.75 to $66.25 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
