PD Speech Pathologist, Speech Therapy

Job Overview:

The Speech Pathologist will provide treatment to inpatients and outpatients with a diagnosis of stroke, aphasia, and dysphagia as needed, as well as patients in our LTAC, Kindred Hospital.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Master s degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited college or university

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
• Licensed by the State of New Jersey

Scheduling Requirements:

• Weekday/weekend/holiday shifts on an as-needed basis
• At least one shift per month required
• Per Diem

Essential Functions:

• Evaluate patients on the initial visit, at regularly scheduled intervals and at discharge using standardized tests and measurements and direct observation
• Formulate objective treatment goals and plan to achieve goals
• Modify goals and plan as needed
• Provide medically prescribed treatments for patients in acute care, Kindred hospital and outpatients
• Complete written or computerized documentation in the medical record as pertains to the patient's status
• Complete other forms and letters as required
• Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences, patient and family meetings and other committees and meetings as assigned
• Maintain knowledge of current laws and standards of practice as relates to speech language pathology
• Participate in educational activities including student supervision and provision of education in areas of expertise or interest
• Contribute to hospital and community education within the scope of knowledge as requested
