We're actively seeking a talented Platform Portfolio Architect to join our Pacific Life Technology Architecture team in Newport Beach, CA.

This role is hybrid or onsite. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.

As a Platform Portfolio Architect, you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by leading and directing a group of Platform Architects assigned to a set of platforms in the Enablement Portfolio. You will fill a new role that sits on a team of 10 people in the corporate division. Your colleagues will include Architects and fellow technology professionals.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Actively collaborates with business and leadership stakeholders to develop strategies, using their understanding of financial and economic elements sensitive to digital transformation, to guide investment decisions effectively. Lead analysis of business models, market trends, and the tech industry to ascertain potential impacts of architectural choices on business strategy, architecture, and direction.

  • Develop and coordinate adoption of enterprise solutions that satisfy requirements related to foundational capabilities and systematically address critical business risks identified through the Enterprise Risk Management processes.

  • Oversee the decomposition of strategic plans into actionable epics and features addressing people, processes, and technology.

  • Facilitates alignment between business and IT, linking strategy to execution in a collaborative, supportive, and consultative manner, enabling Pacific Life's digital business strategies while balancing innovation and growth. Translate and guide the execution of business strategy to achieve the organization's targeted outcomes by leading the development of a platform portfolio and platform implementation roadmap.

  • Work with Platform architects to identify product opportunities across Pacific Life platform portfolios and platforms, drive opportunities and maintain architect teams that are optimally sized

  • Construct the Pacific Life Technology Architecture (PLTA) value proposition, aiding in establishing the PLTA practice as an internal management consultancy that provides services and skills to support the development and execution of business strategies. Create a portfolio of consulting services designed to meet the needs of the business and stakeholders, and deliver these in an agile, time-boxed manner in partnership with business unit architects.

  • Offer consultative advice tailored to the stakeholder context, assisting business leaders and organizational stakeholders in making informed investment decisions for their next business and operating model, using technology to facilitate this transformation. Lead and facilitate discussions with business leaders, product managers, and product owners, highlighting the risks and implications of product decisions on the business unit and the broader enterprise. Promotes architectural thinking.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of one or more architecture services (including, but not limited to Strategic Planning, Technology Portfolio Optimization, Reference Architecture, Solution Delivery Support, Architecture Assurance, Innovation).

  • Working knowledge of at least one Enterprise Architecture framework (including, but not limited to TOGAF, Zachman, Business Motivation Model, BIAN).

  • Possesses an advanced knowledge of Pacific Life technology concepts, practices, methods, principles and a comprehensive understanding of evolving industry technology trends, practices and standards.This would include establishing and directing PLT goals and objectives and programs, developing new directions for PLT.

  • Expert within the technical components of the assigned platform portfolio.

The experience you bring:

  • 10+ years' experience as an architect.

  • 8+ years of experience across business, product and technical architecture.

  • Concentration in technical architecture.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$175,860.00 - $214,940.00
