Experienced Field Mechanic - Heavy Equipment to assist operations in and around the Alexandria, LA area.

Job Duties:

• Has proven experience with inspecting, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, electronic and mechanical systems of various pieces of heavy equipment
• Performs and provides guidance in the preventative maintenance process of various pieces of equipment and vehicles.
• Maintains and is responsible for the maintenance, organization, and cleanliness of assigned mechanics vehicle
• Understands the operation and has first hand experience operating various pieces of heavy equipment
• Maintains logs and collects data from equipment gauges and other apparatus.
• Assumes responsibility and makes decisions in cooperation with supervisor in the determination of inhouse vs. vendor repair needs.
• Professionally and ethically interacts with vendors to purchase or secure parts, materials and repairs as needed
• Is cost control minded when assessing needs of repairs, balancing costs, production issues and longevity of equipment while all the while ensuring equipment is in safe working order.
• Asks probing questions, communicates clearly and makes certain of facts when participating in quality investigations and when interacting day-to-day.

• Relates professionally with employees, vendors, management and others.
• Following all safety policies and PPE use

Safety Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors in high heat
• Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to walk and stand on uneven surfaces for long periods of time
• Ability to operate hand tools, heavy equipment and other devices
• Ability to stoop, bend and climb as needed
• Climbing of steps or ladders in excess of 60 ft is required
• Ability to read, speak, see and understand signs, signals, commands, instruction and safety policies

Experience/Skills Required:

• Preferred candidates should have over 4 years experience with heavy equipment repair related to various heavy equipment manufacturers.
• Candidates are required to have the ability to operate company vehicles which require a valid driver's license and good driving record.
